"Freedom enlightens the world"
Liberty Enlightening the Word.

To begin my series of photo reports on my return to the United States in New York, I chose the Statue of Liberty. The most "Frenchie" of the USA.
Statue of Liberty is certainly the most famous monument in the United States. The monument was classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1924. It was donated by the French people to celebrate the centenary of the American Declaration of Independence.
It was built by France with engineer Gustave Eiffel. Inside there is also a bronze plaque with a poem The New Colossus by the famous poet Emma Lazarus, This very beautiful poem written in 1883 which is the very spirit of the statue and of which it has become the symbol! Here is an excerpt:
"Send me your weary, your poor. Send me your cohorts who yearn to live free, the refuse of your overcrowded shores. Send me, the disinherited, whom the storm brings to me, With my light, I illuminate the golden gate!"
The Statue of Liberty, in addition to being a very important monument of the city, has become one of the symbols of the United States and more generally represents freedom and emancipation from oppression.
The statue was the first sight of the United States for millions of immigrants after a long and arduous crossing of the Atlantic Ocean...
This place is the symbol of the cosmopolitan history of the United States. Ellis Island is now a museum The Immigration Museum exhibits documents, photos and personal objects as well as life stories of immigrants. A very moving and poignant museum that is not to be missed.
Welcome to the United States!
